Weitlaner Retractor
Weitlaner is a self-retaining retractor commonly used in herniotomy, femoropopliteal bypass, plastic surgery, bone and joint procedures, and mastoid surgery. It is also useful with small, deep incisions and soft tissue dissection at a superficial level.
It holds shallow incisions in orthopedic surgery, in neurosurgical procedures like craniotomy it hold the skin of scalp. It is also used in cardiac surgery like implantation of pericardial pacemaker.
In children retractor is used to hold the incision in mid-line on the back while repairing tethered cord syndrome.
Scissors like working with ratchet lock used for hold back tissue and expose surgical site. Curved shanks and interlocking prongs curved outward. Available in Sharp or Blunt profile. It has unidirectional locking mechanism through which it is locked in position.
